There is no good reason for Razah to be so difficult to obtian, as he is that only ritualist hero in the game. Some people may have a build planned for PvE that would be amazing if it had a ritualist hero, but unfortunately, they can't get it until they finish Nigthfall, and then either pay a huge amount, or spend a lot of time, just to get the one hero.
I get your point. I just did not sign this because it's not Razah that needs a change, the solution would be the addition of another Ritualist hero, and with a background as of the other heroes not from The Mists. Razah is that hard to get because of its background and its appearance. But like pets and everything else I've mentioned, there isn't a much cheaper functional solution for a ritualist if you're not willing to play with other people. No Ritualist henchman and just one Ritualist hero. It would settle all these discussions without making people who already have unlocked Razah feel like suiciding for having worked hard or paid a lot for getting the Gemstones for unlocking Razah in PvE.

They should add a Tengu ritualist hero.

there are many other heroes you can use, ritualists arent that special. if you think they are, if you have a good build for them and/or want to be different, maybe you should try a little bit harder to obtain him.

Part of the problem is once he is attained, there is no point in using him unless you are farming with him or hero battles with your PVE character. He is a trophy right now, and some people would like an actual ritualist hero to play the game through with.
Not everyone has to like ritualists, but it's important to realize that some people like em!

If Razah was the variable profession the manual eluded to, then I'd have no qualms about going through the game and elite zones to get him. Then he'd be worth it. Especially if he were a Tengu.

Yeah.. why. Just why. Does anet have something against ritualists? If not this suggestion, then add another ritualist hero somewhere else in the game.

I've been thinking about why and I got the impression that they were tight on time. It was a busy 4th quarter for the dev team. The ritualist model was probably intended for an actual ritualist to be acquired via quest in factions, but due to time constraints was not added. Since DOA appeared to use recycled skins for end weapons, I'm guessing they also had to finish up quickly to get DOA released in order to get the Wintersday update tested and released.
I'm guessing that the variable profession hero could not be finished on time and they had a ritualist hero unused and took advantage of it.
If that was the case, I don't blame them, they did manage to get a lot done in such a short amount of time this quarter.

'Half' of the Ritualist skills don't work in the hands of AI. It has no concept of dropping item spells for their effect (nor can you tell them to do so), nor concept of placement of spirits (this in particular makes Destruction not terribly useful).

NOTE: Despite these, it'd still be nice to be able to GET a ritualist hero.

This thread has got a little to quiet. Besides, there's a lot of good information in it that some of the forum newcomers should probably see.

This level of challenge would be justified if he was the variable-profession hero Anet promised us in the publicity and manual for the game (hmm... vaporware promises? never!). However it is NOT worthwhile for some crappy hero who NF-only buyers won't even be able to use properly!

I don't mind a good challenge, but I was really disappointed to get all the way through Nightfall and never have a ritualist hero to mess with, only to find I'd have to slave over the Domain of Anguish to get one. Alternatively, I'd be okay with them adding a seperate Ritualist hero somewhere else and leaving Razah as he is. Either way, ANet didn't do this right the first time and it ought to be addressed.

Agreed, too, that it's a Factions profession. Its acquisition didn't belong in Nightfall.

I want him on all of my characters (including the not wanted ones, Assassins and the like) without paying an outrageous sum of money for the gemstones.

I would so love Razah in my team...
I would so dislike spending idiotic amounts of money on it, or grind stones for hours on end...
I would not mind a "different" Rit hero (To keep Razah elite to those who spend money on it..)
I would appreciated if Anet gave us something they promised, but then again, Anet does spoil us in almost every other possible way..

Anet is trying to implement Grinding in NF (something they promise they will never ever ever do before Prophecies). Sunspear Rank required, Lightbringer for advanced skills (most people just HAVE TO GET IT), etc. etc.
Next thing you know, you're going to get slow leveling in 4th campaign, and I mean about 3x slower than Prophecies.

I am curious if we were even suppose to get Razah. At least the majority of people.

[Dev Update]: Domain of Anguish

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We appreciate the feedback that we've been receiving from players about their experiences in the Domain of Anguish. We definitely intend that the rewards for exceptional accomplishments, such as those in the DoA, should be suitable. Based on feedback and our own assessments, the design team has decided to make the following changes to the DoA:
Double the rate of drops of gemstones throughout all four regions of the Domain of Anguish. This is beyond the upcoming special weekend drop rate increase. The rate of gemstone drop will double on a permanent basis.
Improve the quantity of some of the items obtained from the Coffer of Whispers. Now, it's important to note that the Coffer of Whispers is a bit of a game of chance, much like the locked chests throughout the game world. Therefore, there will be a wide variance in the items that you receive. Sometimes you'll feel like you've hit the jackpot; other times you'll find you have gotten a good item, but not a great one. We want to assure that you receive those occasional "jackpots" and that you get decent quantities of the good items in other occasions, so that you are properly rewarded for your interactions with the CoW. (Gotta love the new acronyms: I thought DoA was good, but CoW? Tasty! )
Adjust the cost of the Armbrace of Truth to be more reasonable. Instead of 25 gems of each type, the cost will be 15 gems of each type.
It's important to note that these areas are repeatable, which answers a question that has been asked a few times. The objective is that players who brave the DoA and succeed will be sure to get valuable items and goods. If players are able to succeed multiple times, their rewards will naturally increase. The improved system will assure that there is a system of "just rewards." The designers hope to have the changes tested and rolled into the game in the near future. Please don't hold me to this -- testing continues -- but this could be in the game by tomorrow, and is sure to be in the game within the week.

We are going to continue to monitor the Domain of Anguish. We want this to be the high-end are of the game, of course, and to retain its specialness and its challenge. It's an Elite area, obviously, and in truth we cannot say that it's intended even for the majority of players. But we certainly intend for it, while challenging, to also be a lot of fun! Please continue to share your thoughts and we'll be reading!

There was a post by Gaile a few weeks back saying that they were looking at Razah's PvE aquisition. Nothing since then, but they somehow realized that the majority of PvE players (the ones that DoA apparently was NOT designed for) actually wanted to gain Razah.
